AN ANCIENT WAY TO GET HEALTHIER!

What is Qi Gong? It is a form of exercise developed six thousand years ago by people striving for longevity.  It literally translates as, “energy cultivation”. Local acupuncturist, Julia Thie, is sharing a style of Qi Gong called The Eight Treasures.  Mentored by her teachers during her four years at Yo San University in California, she brings this ancient healing art to modern people who can benefit greatly from this kind of activity.

The form is comprised of eight sets of movements that combine toning and strengthening exercises, stretching, and specific breathing techniques for the purpose of maintaining health and preventing disease. They can be practiced by anyone at any level of fitness as the movements can be modified individually. It provides a good foundation for any martial arts training or T’ai Chi Chuan practice as well.

What are the benefits? Practice of the Eight Treasures promotes an increase in energy, flexibility and balance, improving the quality of life and feeling of well-being. You can sharpen your mental capacity by reactivating dormant components in the nervous system that directly affect the mind and the body’s chemistry. It is possible to unblock and relieve congestion in the body and gradually eliminate the stress that has accumulated over the course of time. Aches and pains go away as every muscle, nerve and organ is nourished and tonified.  It is quite an experience!

When and where is the class?   Classes and one-day workshops are held at the Appalachian Fairground in Gray.   Please contact the office if you are interested in being notified about future events.

You may surprise yourself when you are able to achieve some of the goals set for you in this class. You will learn to, “Bring the Sea to the Top of the Mountain”, “Draw the Precious Sword from its Sheath” and “Look at the Lotus Flower in the Clear Pond”.  This kind of exercise is a way to take responsibility for your health and for your whole life. No matter where you are starting from; certainly anyone can become healthier and happier.
